Where do the pearls come from?
They come from the largest salt water pearl farms in the world. Every pearl direct
comes from the pearl farm manufacturer to our cmpany in Australia.
Whate are difference between south sea pearls and Akoya pearls?
South sea pearls form in the "White Lipped" oyster pinctada maxima.
They found in the waters off Australia, Myanmar, Indonesia, and Philipines. South
sea pearls cultivation period 2-3 year. Pearl farm divers go 10 - 80 meters deep in
search of healthy and only mature oysters for growing. Ranging from 8mm to as larger
as 20mm, Akoya oyater produces the beautiful and delicate salt water pearl found in
the waters around Japan and China. Akoya cultured pearls take 10 to 18 months from
the time they are nucleated to the point. The size of salt water pearls (Akoya pearls)
varies from 2mm - 9mm. The average sized pearl sold today is between 7 - 7.5 millimeters.
What are difference between Saltwater pearls
and Freshwater pearls?
Saltwater pearls these are
almost always AKOYA PEARLS,(AKOYA is the Japanese word for saltwater) these pearls
are farmed in saltwater and are always grown in oysters.
Saltwater pearls
typically command a higher price than freshwater pearls.
Freshwater pearls Occurring in mussels, not oysters, and found in
freshwater lakes and rivers. Freshwater pearls are typically cheaper because freshwater
mussels are larger and can produce up to 20 pearls at a time, whereas saltwater oyster
are smaller and can only produce one pearl at a time.
How can I care my pearl?
1. Store your pearls jewellery in a soft jewellary bag.
2. Put your pearls on after make up.
3. Protect pearls from temperature extremes and chemicals, as fruit juice, alcohol,
hair spray, vinegar can erode their surfaces.
4. Remover pearl accessories before working around water.
5. Never leave pearls in an airtight container, allow them to breathe.
