PEARL QUALITY GRADING GUIDE

Pearl quality is typically denoted by the standard letter grading scale of AAA+, AAA, AA,  A and B.

The grade is based on a combination of the following characteristics.

Luster              surface                shape                  nacre

 AAA +           Luster: outstanding  luster , amazing reflection and clarity

                       Surface: surface has virtually perfect surface

                       Shape: very round , the pearls are of a near perfect spherical shape.

                       Nacre: very thick, high quality nacre.

AAA              Luster: Excellent , nice, shape and very clear reflection.

                       Surface: excellent surface with occasional blemish.

                       Shape: round

                       Nacre: thick

AA                 Luster: very good luster

                       Surface: occasional but not noticeable blemishes

                       Shape: round

                       Nacre: moderately thick

A                    Luster: good

                       Surface: light blemish but not affecting luster

                       Shape: off- round to round (shape of a tear drop or other shape)

                       Nacre : thin nacre

B                    Semi- Baroque   off-round, slightly irregular or oval

                       Baroque-  Irregular yet beautiful nature shaped shape
